MonitoringLocationDescriptionText 04/23/2012 Site is at downstream edge of power line clearing at National Forest boundary. Note: map shows boundary upstream of site. Bank-to-bank width: 2-3 meters; Bank height: 1-3 meters; Midstream depth: 15 centimeters. Vegetation adjacent station: rhododendron, briars. Watershed land use: forest and power line. Upstream disturbance: power line and forest road. Tag number: 596; 6" tree on right bank (looking upstream) 3-4 meters above sample location. Note that there are other tributaries in the general area - Be sure to follow map and use GPS coordinates to locate the correct one. If wading Wolf Creek: Check Wolf Creek USGS gage: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/va/nwis/uv?site_no=03175500 for info on flow level. It's far downstream, but may be useful. On 04/23/2012 Wolf Creek was safely waded and the gage reading was 256 CFS; stage height 3.59 feet. Much deeper would be difficult.
