| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | This site is located approximately 4 miles west of the Madison Junction in Yellowstone National Park. Water is collected from a culvert that captures water and snowmelt runoff from the adjacent hillside. Most of the water appears to derive from springs and seeps from the adjacent hill side. The water is collected from the south side of the road just before it enters Madison River. Sample water from the Madison site was collected as it egressed from a culvert and before it entered the Madison River. In addition to snowmelt runoff from groomed road surfaces, water from the Madison site captured considerable amounts of snowmelt water from the adjacent hillside on the north side of the road. |
