MonitoringLocationDescriptionText This water quality site is located near the confluence of Soda Butte Creek with Lamar River in the northeast portion of Yellowstone National Park and is near a USGS gaging station. The watershed upstream of the sample site encompasses approximately 25,640 hectares. The Soda Butte watershed drains a large portions of the northeast corner of Yellowstone National Park. Stream water quality has the potential to be affected by the McClaren mine tailings in which the stream flows through near Cooke City, MT which is near the headwaters of Soda Butte Creek.
