MonitoringLocationDescriptionText This station is located near the Montana/Wyoming state line on the west side of Yellowstone National Park. The river basin from the sample site encompasses approximately 108,780 hectares and drains much of the west-central portion of Yellowstone National Park. The Madison River begins at the confluence of the Gibbon and Firehole Rivers both of which receive great amounts of thermal influence. A USGS gage station is located approximately 1.6 kilometers downstream of the sample site.
