MonitoringLocationDescriptionText THE SITE IS LOCATED ON THE WIND CAVE SOUTH DAKOTA CUSTER COUNTY 7.5 MINUTE SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. ARCIMEDES' POOL REPRESENTS A SPECIFIC GEOLOGICAL FEATURE IN WIND CAVE. THE SAMPLE SITE IS ONE OF NINETEEN DRIP SITES WITHIN CAVE ENVIRONS. FLOW RATES WERE OBTAINED BY COUNTING DRIPS PER MINUTE AND THEN CONVERTING TO MILLILITERS ASSUMING SIX DRIPS PER MILLILITER. CHEMICAL ANALYSIS WAS COMPLETED BY THE EPA REGION 8 LAB IN DENVER COLORADO. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY WERE TO DOCUMENT ANY DEGRADATION OF WATER QUALITY IN THE CAVE WHICH MAY HAVE BEEN CAUSED BY SURFACE DEVELOPMENT AND TO COLLECT BASELINE WATER QUALITY DATA IN AREAS AWAY FROM THESE DEVELOPMENTS.
