SITE 1 IS LOCATED WITHIN VALLEY FORGE NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK AT THE SCHUYLKILL RIVER AT THE BETZWOOD BOAT RAMP. THE SAMPLE WAS COLLECTED FROM THE STREAM BOTTOM 10 FEET UPSTREAM OF THE BOAT RAMP AND 5 FEET FROM THE LEFT (LOOKING DOWNSTREAM) EDGE OF THE WATER. THE AREA ADJACENT TO SITE 1 CONTAINS PICNIC TABLES AND A PARKING LOT. DATA ARE FROM USGS WATER RESOURCES INVESTIGATIONS REPORT 974120 "METALS; PESTICIDES; AND SEMIVOLATILE ORGANIC COMPOUNDS IN SEDIMENT IN VALLEY FORGE NATIONAL HISTORICAL PARK; MONTGOMERY COUNTY; PENNSYLVANIA" (REIF & SLOTO; 1997).
