| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | Station is located in Tonto National Monument on the Windy Hill AZ 7.5' U.S. Geological Survey topographic quadrangle. Data were collected at this site by William B. Reed of the National Park Service (NPS) Water Resources Division in September 1980 and are on file with that office. Reed described Cholla Spring in Cave Canyon as having three openings: a northern developed; southern developed; and an undeveloped opening. The undeveloped spring is approximately 25 feet south of the southern most developed opening and 65 feet south of the northern most spring opening. This station is located where the Upper Ruins Trail crosses the channel over a culvert. The water in this undeveloped spring flows in the stream channel past the two developed springs for approximately 35 feet to where it pools and infiltrates into the streambed. This stream channel is dry within the Tonto National Monument except for this reach.
