MonitoringLocationDescriptionText Station is located in Tonto National Monument on the Windy Hill AZ 7.5' U.S. Geological Survey topographic quadrangle. Data were collected at this site by William B. Reed of the National Park Service (NPS) Water Resources Division in September 1980 and are on file with that office. Reed described Cholla Spring in Cave Canyon as having three openings: a northern developed; southern developed; and an undeveloped opening. The undeveloped spring is approximately 25 feet south of the southern most developed opening and 65 feet south of the northern most spring opening. This spring is developed by a concrete spring box at and above land surface and a "bathtub shaped" basin beneath the land surface. The spring box is approximately 2.37 feet square; including wall thickness. The basin below the spring box is approximately 3.5' x 4.5' x 3.18'. The basin appears to be cut into bedrock and left "natural".
