| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | THE SITE IS LOCATED ON THE 7.5 MINUTE SERIES LODGEPOLE CALIFORNIA TULARE CO. (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. IT IS A SUBALPINE (3000 M) CIRQUE THAT IS PRIMARILY TREELESS BUT HAS LODGEPOLE PINE (P. CONTORTA); RED FIR (A. MAGNIFICA); WESTERN WHITE PINE (P. MONTICOLA); AND FOXTAIL PINE (P. BALFOURIANA). IN THE PAST DECADE ANNUAL PRECIP. HAS VARIED FROM 70 TO 300 CM (NEARLY ALL HAS BEEN WINTER SNOW). THE LAKE AREA IS 2.85 HA; THE BASIN AREA IS 120 HA; THE BASIN GEOLOGY IS PLAGIOCLASE GRANITE; AND 20% OF THE BASIN HAS DEVELOPED SOIL THAT INCLUDES LITHIC CRYMBREPTS AND CRYAQUEPTS.
