MonitoringLocationDescriptionText	This station is located mid-channel on the St. Croix River in Pool #1 of Lake St. Croix, near Bayport, Minnesota. The station is East from the tip of the peninsula in Bayport. The nearest active USGS flow monitoring station is located in St. Croix Falls, Wisconsin (USGS 05340500), which is about 30 miles upstream of the water quality monitoring station. However, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintains a river stage gage about 2 miles upstream in Stillwater, Minnesota, which indicates river level. Metropolitan Council Environmental Services (http://www.metrocouncil.org/) is in the process of developing a river discharge rating curve at the Stillwater site by comparing river stage gage measurements with river velocity measurements collected through use of an acoustic Doppler profiler device .
