| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | Hurdygurdy Creek is a tributary of the South Fork Smith River and drains a 131 km2 area at an elevation range of 180 m to 1200 m. The local geology is a mixture of low to high grade metamorphic rock. The riparian zone ranges from 5 to 25 m in width. The lower 7 km of the Hurdygurdy Creek comprises the study area. Historical land use was mostly smallscale mining and logging, with associated road construction. The trap site was located in the thalweg at the head of a bedrocklined pool located approximately 500 m from the mouth of the stream. A rock weir extending from the streambanks to the mouth of the trap was constructed to direct all streamflow into the trap. |
