| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | Mae Creek is a tributary to Prairie Creek which in turn is a tributary to Redwood Creek, it is also referred to as May Creek. The stream was walked from the Highway 101 bridge crossing to a point upstream approximately 2.5 miles and from the 101 crossing to the mouth. The stream was surveyed at access points where logging roads either crossed the creek or came near it. The section surveyed flowed through recovering redwood forest. The stream was heavily over grown with alders and considerable logging debris in channel. There was heavy streambed siltation due to past logging and road construction in watershed. At the time of sampling ownership was mostly by Arcata Redwood Company. |
