MonitoringLocationDescriptionText THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE PIPESTONE NORTH MINNESOTAPIPESTONE CO. 7.5' SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. THE STATION WAS AT A CULVERT ON AN INTERMITTENT STREAM INSIDE PIPESTONE NATIONAL MONUMENT 800 FEET SOUTH OF THE VISITOR CENTER ON THE ENTRANCE ROAD. THE CREEK WAS SAMPLED AS PART OF A WATER QUALITY STUDY CONDUCTED WITHIN THE PARK BY THE NPS FOLLOWING A FISH KILL IN THE FALL OF 1982. DATA WERE OBTAINED FROM INVESTIGATOR'S ANNUAL REPORTS BY DENISE STOCKS AND FROM MISCELLANEOUS LABORATORY SHEETS. THE POLLUTANTS APPEARED TO BE THE RESULT OF URBAN AND AGRICULTURAL RUNOFF; PIPESTONE CREEK SERVES AS THE MAIN COUNTY DRAINAGE DITCH.
