| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | THE SITE IS LOCATED ON THE QUITOBAQUITO SPRINGS ARIZONA 15 MINUTE SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. THE SITE WAS AT A PUPFISH OBSERVATION POOL THAT USED TO EXIST IN THE QUITOBAQUITO SPRINGPOND SYSTEM. IT WAS AFTER THE GAUGING STATION BUT PRIOR TO THE POND. HOWEVER IN 1989 A 700 FOOT LONG OPEN CHANNEL FROM THE SOUTHWEST SPRING TO THE POND WAS CONSTRUCTED AND THE OBSERVATION POOL REMOVED. THE CHANNEL AND THE POND PROVIDE HABITAT FOR THE ENDANGERED SPECIES OF DESERT PUPFISH. DATA FOR THIS SITE ARE FROM THE FOLLOWING 1985 CPSU TECHNICAL REPORT NO. 22 BY UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA PROFESSOR STUART FISHER: "HYDROLOGIC AND LIMNOLOGIC FEATURES OF QUITOBAQUITO POND AND SPRINGS: ORGAN PIPE CACTUS NATIONAL MONUMENT."
