MonitoringLocationDescriptionText THE SITE IS LOCATED ON THE QUITOBAQUITO SPRINGS ARIZONA 15 MINUTE SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. THE SITE IS AT A USGS MAINTAINED WATERLEVEL RECORDER (GAUGE 09535900) THAT MONITORS THE COMBINED DIS CHARGE OF THE QUITOBAQUITO NORTHEAST SPRING AND THE QUITOBAQUITO SOUTH WEST SPRING. WATER IS PIPED FROM THE NORTHEAST SPRING TO THE SOUTHWEST SPRING; THE COMBINED FLOW IS DIRECTED OVER A VNOTCHED WEIR AND THROUGH A 700 FOOT LONG OPEN CHANNEL FROM THE SOUTHWEST SPRING TO THE POND. EACH SPRING CONTRIBUTES EQUALLY TO THE FLOW AT THE GAUGING STATION IN MIDSUMMER. THE GAUGE WAS PLACED AT THE WEIR IN 1981. DATA FOR THIS SITE ARE FROM CPSU DATA 1. CPSU TECHNICAL REPORT NO. 22 BY STUART FISHER AND 2. A 198283 STUDY BY CPSU RESEARCH ECOLOGIST PETER BENNETT.
