This is a side channel of the river and the given coordinates are the approximate midpoint of a transect, with the upstream point at 41.85588889N, 103.70844444W, and the downstream point at 41.85602778N, 103.70741667W. Researchers described the side channel as backwater, turbid water, width was approximately 6 meters, depth ranged from 0.3 to greater than 1.5 meters (average approximately 1 meter), and no flow with tall grass along the banks.
