| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE CHEROKEE ALABAMA 7.5 MINUTE SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. THE SITE IS AT TENNESSEE RIVER STATION 4 AND IS OUTSIDE OF NATCHEZ TRACE PARKWAY. STATIONS 15 ARE LOCATED DIRECTLY UPSTREAM OF THE NATCHEZ TRACE PARKWAY BRIDGE TO SERVE AS CONTROLS. STATIONS 642 ARE LOCATED DOWNSTREAM OF THE BRIDGE FOR APPROXIMATELY 1.5 MILES. STATIONS 4354 ARE LOCATED IN A CROSSSECTION JUST DOWNSTREAM OF THE BRIDGE. THE BRIDGE WAS PAINTED WITH LEADBASED PAINT. PAINT REMOVAL PRIOR TO THE REPAINTING WAS ACCOMPLISHED BY SANDBLASTING. PAINT RESIDUE WAS ALLOWED TO FALL INTO THE RIVER. THE STUDY WAS DONE BY NATIONAL PARK SERVICE (WRD). THE OBJECTIVES WERE TO DETERMINE THE INCREASE IN LEAD CONTENT DOWNSTREAM OF THE NATCHEZ TRACE BRIDGE AND TO PROVIDE INFO FOR PARKWAY MANAGERS TO CREATE A STRATEGY FOR REMOVAL OF PAINT.
