| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | Well is within a mixed hardwood and coniferous forest with deciduous understory species. Several drainage ways that carry runoff are in this area. North of Jockey Hollow Road, intermittent drainages were observed leading to the West Branch of Primrose Brook. These are likely to carry runoff from Jockey Hollow Road, the paved Trail Center parking area, and walking trails. Drainage paths that carry flow directly to Primrose Brook were observed adjacent to the south side of Jockey Hollow Road. An intermittent drainage flowing from a park residence off Jockey Hollow Road is located within 4050 feet of the well. White tail deer, red squirrel, gray squirrel and rabbits were observed in the vicinity. The Wildflower Trail parallels Primrose Brook and crosses the drainage swale by way of a foot bridge. Domestic dogs were observed being walked along the trail and feces could be placed directly in the stream at the drainage crossing. According to park personnel, a septic system at park residences west and upslope of the site was replaced in recent years. The failed septic system was not removed as part of the new installation. |
