New WQX 3.0 profiles are available at waterqualitydata.us/beta/. These profiles will contain recent USGS data added since March 11, 2024, which marks the beginning of limited accessibility for USGS data. MonitoringLocationDescriptionText The Little Bighorn River forms the western boundary of the Little Bighorn Battlefield National Monument, and is the only body of water on the park unit. The Monument is about 1.6 km wide from north to south, but the Little Bighorn River boundary is probably 3 times this length because of stream meanders. We sampled 3 reaches on the Little Bighorn River; each was 300 m long. The Middle Reach was located about midway between the northern and southern Monument boundaries. Habitat in the Middle Reach included pools up to about 1.5 m deep, short riffles, and run habitat. Stream width was 10 to 15 m, and substrate ranged from silt to cobble. The upstream end of the reach is located at latitude 45.56185 and longitude 107.43481 and the downstream end of the reach is located at latitude 45.56369 and longitude 107.43579. The given latitude and longitude is the middle of the reach.
