THE SITE IS LOCATED AT NAKNEK LAKE APPROXIMATELY 100 YARDS NORTHWEST OF A SUSPECTED SOURCE OF HYDROCARBON CONTAMINATION. A WATER SAMPLE AND 3 REPLICATE SEDIMENT SAMPLES WERE TAKEN AT THIS STATION ON 12 AUGUST 1997. RESULTS WILL BE SUMMARIZED IN A FINAL REPORT TO THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE TITLED "BASELINE HYDROCARBON STUDY; KATMAI NATIONAL PARK AND PRESERVE; FINAL REPORT" BY PHILIP JOHNSON AND CATHERINE BERG; U.S. FISH AND WILDLIFE SERVICE (USFW); ALASKA REGIONAL OFFICE; ANCHORAGE AK (INTERAGENCY AGREEMENT 991069025; SEPTEMBER 1996).
