THE SITE WAS SAMPLED AT SOUTH FORK OF THE LITTLE CONEMAUGH RIVER. THE LOCATION WAS SAMPLED AS PART OF A STUDY DESCRIBED IN THE "REPORT ON THE WATER QUALITY AND ACID MINE DRAINAGE IN THE LITTLE CONEMAUGH RIVER WATERSHED CAMBRIA COUNTY; PENNSYLVANIA." THE REPORT WAS WRITTEN BY WILLIAM BARBIN GLEASON IN JUNE 1995. FUNDING WAS PROVIDED BY THE PENNSYLVANIA CLEAN WATER FUND WITH ASSISTANCE OF PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION; BUREAU OF LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION AND BUREAU OF MINING AND RECLAMATION.
