MonitoringLocationDescriptionText Station was (is) known as Stevens Spring and is located in Hot Springs National Park. The station can be found on the Hot Springs North 7.5' USGS topographic quadrangle. The location and data for this spring originate from a 1902 U.S. Senate Document (282) entitled The Hot Springs of Arkansas: Report of an Analysis of the Waters of the Hot Springs on the Hot Springs Reservation; Hot Springs; Garland County; Arkansas by J.K. Haywood (Head of USDA Laboratory of Insecticides and Agricultural Waters of the Bureau of Chemistry) and Walter Harvey Weed (USGS). Some of the spring numbers and names were given by J.K. Haywood and Martin Eisele an early Superintendent of Hot Springs National Park. Station is described as: Stevens Spring "This was developed in digging foundations for the new retaining wall of the wagon road (1902). The water is piped to a drinking fountain." Data also come from a 1922 USGS Memorandum by Kirk Bryan "Memorandum on the New Well in the Grounds of the Army and Navy Hospital at Hot Springs Arkansas."*** Legacy STORET Station Type: /TYPA/AMBNT/SPRING
