MonitoringLocationDescriptionText THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE PHOENIXVILLE PENNSYLVANIA 7.5' SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. THE STATION WAS ON FRENCH CREEK AT HARES HILL ROAD (SR1045); RIVER MILE 4.62. THE CREEK WAS SAMPLED AS PART OF A STUDY BY THE NPS AND PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TO ASSESS NONPOINT SOURCE POLLUTION IN FRENCH CREEK AND TO DOCUMENT OVERALL WATER QUALITY IN THE BASIN. DATA WERE PUBLISHED IN THE REPORT "AQUATIC BIOLOGY INVESTIGATION; FRENCH CREEK/CHESTER COUNTY; NPS SURVEY" BY MICHAEL R. BOYER (1993). THE REPORT STATED; "CHEMICAL PARAMETERS INDICATED A TRANSITION TO A WARM WATER FISHERY. COLIFORM CONCENTRATION AND FECAL STREP WERE ELEVATED; PROBABLY MORE FROM AGRICULTURE THAN HUMAN SOURCES..STREAM CONDITIONS WERE GOOD AND THE TSF DESIGNATION FOR THIS REACH WAS ATTAINED. A LACK OF PHYSICAL HABITAT KEPT THE NUMBERS OF HOLDOVER TROUT LOW."
