MonitoringLocationDescriptionText THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE POTTSTOWN PENNSYLVANIA 7.5' SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. THE STATION WAS ON SOUTH BRANCH FRENCH CREEK AT IRON BRIDGE ROAD (T424); RIVER MILE 2.23. THE CREEK WAS SAMPLED AS PART OF A STUDY BY THE NPS AND PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TO ASSESS NONPOINT SOURCE POLLUTION IN FRENCH CREEK AND TO DOCUMENT OVERALL WATER QUALITY IN THE BASIN. DATA WERE PUBLISHED IN THE REPORT "AQUATIC BIOLOGY INVESTIGATION; FRENCH CREEK/CHESTER COUNTY; NPS SURVEY" BY MICHAEL R. BOYER (1993). THE REPORT STATED; "THE 5DAY BOD; LEAD; AND BACTERIA LEVELS WERE SLIGHTLY ELEVATED. THE OTHER PARAMETERS INDICATED GOOD WATER QUALITY..THE WATER AT STATION 5 IS OF HIGH ENOUGH QUALITY TO ALLOW ATTAINMENT OF THE HQTSF DESIGNATION. PHYSICAL HABITAT IS PROBABLY THE FACTOR LIMITING TROUT REPRODUCTION IN THE SOUTH BRANCH."
