THE STATION WAS ON FRENCH CREEK AT COUNTY PARK ROAD (T452); RIVER MILE 17.04. THE CREEK WAS SAMPLED AS PART OF A STUDY BY THE NPS AND PENNSYLVANIA DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION TO ASSESS NONPOINT SOURCE POLLUTION IN FRENCH CREEK AND TO DOCUMENT OVERALL WATER QUALITY IN THE BASIN. DATA WERE PUBLISHED IN THE REPORT "AQUATIC BIOLOGY INVESTIGATION; FRENCH CREEK/CHESTER COUNTY; NPS SURVEY" BY MICHAEL R. BOYER (1993). THE REPORT STATED; "SLIGHTLY ELEVATED LEVELS OF LEAD; ZINC; AND ALUMINUM AND BACTERIA CONCENTRATION WERE FOUND. THE LATTER IS PROBABLY FROM AGRICULTURAL RUNOFF. NO SOURCE OF THE METALS WAS EVIDENT..FRENCH CREEK AT STATION 4 HAS THE CHEMICAL AND BIOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS TO SUPPORT A HQCWF. THE LIMITING FACTOR IS PROBABLY TEMPERATURE OR POSSIBLY SILTATION."
