New WQX 3.0 profiles are available at waterqualitydata.us/beta/. These profiles will contain recent USGS data added since March 11, 2024, which marks the beginning of limited accessibility for USGS data. Read more about the 3.0 profiles and associated changes here. This user interface only serves WQX2.2 profiles, which do NOT contain USGS data added after March 11, 2024.

MonitoringLocationDescriptionText Shangri La Landslide Seep (T6S R13E 18DCD) is located in the North area of the Bell Rapids plateau on BLM property. At the start of a small drainage on the hillside are remnants of a prehistoric landslide at the exposed basalt with an approximate elevation of 962 meters. A small seep of water flows from the base of the basalt outcrop and daylights as a seep. The water flows from the base of the basalt through silty clay material, at a flow rate of about 0.02 liters per second. Grab samples were retrieved once every three months from a horizontal pipe augered into the silty clay. Water from this seep is estimated to originate from field seepage on the plateau and from the regional aquifer. Shangri La is classified as associated with the basalt hydrogeologic group. From observing aerial photos of the area, it appears that this spring discharge did not exist prior to 1990.
