| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | Phil's Spring (T7S R13E 32ACC) was named after the National Park Service's paleontologist, Phil Gensler, who discovered this spring while looking for fossils in the area. The spring is located in the southern portion of HAFO at an elevation of 1001 meters, in a sand aquifer where there was a small slope failure. A small vnotch weir was placed just below the small slide to collect flow rates, also a small monitoring well was placed north of the slide about two meters in order to obtain a representative and uncontaminated sample from the groundwater prior to its exit to the surface. The water was retrieved from the well using a small submersible pump every three months. There was an average of about 0.2 liters per second of water flowing at this location. This site is considered in the sand hydrogeologic group. |
