| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | The 1997 North Plateau Landslide Spring (T6S R13E 33ADD) is located along the north slope of the Bell Rapids plateau on BLM property at an elevation of about 953 meters. The same fire that occurred on the 1993 landslide in October 2005 occurred here as well. The spring was developed for sampling by auguring a small vertical well into sand, silt, and clay material north of the main landslide. The water was retrieved from the well by continuous siphoning with a small tubing down the slope of the hill between sampling sessions. The fire bent the exposed PVC well, but the water continued to flow. Water also seeped to the surface at various locations in the area, but the water discharge was so low (about 0.02 liters per second) that the well provided the more accurate representation, plus contamination from surface activity was limited. Grab samples were retrieved once every three months. This site is considered to reside in the siltyclay hydrogeologic group. |
