| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | This station was located beneath the Bureau of Marine Resources (formerly the Mississippi Marine Conservation Commission) pier in approximately 1.1 m of water. Although protected from north winds, the site received moderate to heavy wave action from large boats and barges travelling in a nearby channel and from southeasterly winds and storms. The bottom in the immediate vicinity of the pier was firm, and composed of more sand than mud. Marsh vegetation was exiguous. |
