MonitoringLocationDescriptionText East Pond is a 17672.63 square meter freshwater dune pond located in the northeast portion of the Fort Pickens unit of the Gulf Islands National Seashore. Situated along a relatively narrow portion of the western end of Santa Rosa Island, north of Highway 399. The pond resides along a widened area consisting of two other ponds, densely overgrown dunes of moderate heights, and abundant woods. The pond is surrounded by prolific freshwater wetlands.
