MonitoringLocationDescriptionText Site is located at Grand Portage Creek, approximately 0.7 miles upstream of the State Route 61 Bridge. This station is on the primary stream of the 4547 acre Grand Portage Creek subwatershed which drains a portion of eastern Grand Portage Highlands and flows generally east and south into Lake Superior. The station is downstream of the confluences of three (out of four) tributary streams. Earth Geodetic Model 96 (EGM96) used for elevation datum. EGM96 is a geopotential model of the Earth consisting of spherical harmonic coefficients complete to degree and order 360. Trimble GeoExplorer II was used for determining elevation and latitude/longitude coordinates. This monitoring station is inside Grand Portage N.M. boundaries.
