THE SITE IS ON POPLAR CREEK IN GRAND PORTAGE NATIONAL MONUMENT AT THE POINT WHERE THE TRAIL CROSSES POPLAR CREEK. WATER QUALITY MONITORING WAS CONDUCTED IN 1994 AND 1995 AS PART OF THE STUDY (REPORT ON THE ECOLOGICAL MONITORING OF TWO STREAMS IN GRAND PORTAGE NATIONAL MONUMENT) BY TERRENCE BOYLE AND ANN RICHMOND; COLORADO STATE UNIVERSITY. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS REPORT WAS TO ESTABLISH CRITICAL PHYSICAL; CHEMICAL; AND BIOLOGICAL PARAMETERS OF TWO STREAM SYSTEMS WITHIN GRAND PORTAGE NATIONAL MONUMENT.
