| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | Deer Lodge River (later renamed Clark Fork River) has its origins in the numerous small streams in the hills, chiefly to the westward of Butte, Montana and on the divide, upon which also rise many of the affluents of the Jefferson Fork of the Missouri. Flowing northward through a rich agricultural valley, it joins the Little Blackfoot River at Garrison, Montana about 45 miles north of Silver Bow, Montana. In its course from Silver Bow to Garrison the Deer Lodge River receives a great number of small streams from the mountains on each side of the valley. From the east come Browns Gulch, Silver Bow, Peterson, Cottonwood, and Freezeout creeks; while from the west the number is much greater, including Willow, Warm Spring, Lost Modesty, RaceTrack, Dempsey, Punch, Tincup Joe, and Rock creeks. Although these are all comparatively small streams, they are, with few exceptions, well filled with trout. |
