THE SITE IS LOCATED AT THE UPPERMOST POOL OF ROWLAND SPRING AND IS WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF GREAT BASIN NATIONAL PARK. THE DATA ARE REPORTED IN THE "GREAT BASIN NATIONAL PARK FEASI BILITY STUDY FOR WATER AND WASTEWATER SERVICE;" SEPTEMBER 1991. THIS STUDY WAS CONDUCTED BY THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE USING DATA COLLECTED BY SEVERAL DIFFERENT AGENCIES. DATA FOR THIS STATION WERE COLLECTED BY AGK ENGINEERS. THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY WAS TO "DEVELOP AND EVALUATE WATER SUPPLY AND TREATMENT ALTERNATIVES...FOR THE GREAT BASIN NATIONAL PARK AND NEARBY EXISTING AND FUTURE POPULATION CENTERS."
