DATA ARE FROM "ECOLOGICAL SURVEY OF TOMALES BAY" (MARCH 1961) BY R.G. JOHNSON; W.R. BRYANT; AND J.W. HEDGPETH FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC; PACIFIC MARINE STATION. THE STUDY WAS SUPPORTED BY A NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION GRANT AND WAS CONDUCTED TO "INVESTIGATE BASIC PROBLEMS IN MARINE ECOLOGY AND GEOLOGY" AND TO DEVELOP A LONGTERM MONITORING PROGRAM FOR THE AREA.
