MonitoringLocationDescriptionText The Escalante River is perennial, flows northwest to southeast in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area. Water samples were collected from the Escalante River about 50 feet upstream of Stevens Canyon. The Escalante River is the third largest inflow to Glen Canyon and Lake Powell. Wildlife and backpackers use this stream as a water source and water samples provide information about the waterquality. Agricultural and industrial activities occur currently or have occurred historically in the Escalante River watershed.
