THIS SITE IS IN FORT PULSKI NATIONAL MONUMENT AND IS LOCATED ON THE MOAT WHICH SURROUNDS THE FORT. WATER QUALITY HAS BEEN MONITORED AT THIS STATION ON A MONTHLY BASIS SINCE JANUARY 1994 AS PART OF A PROGRAM DESIGNED TO MEASURE NUTRIENT AND SALINITY LEVELS AND TO ASSESS THE POTENTIAL FOR ALGAL BLOOMS AND DETERIORATION OF THE FORT'S BRICK MASONRY. SAMPLES ARE TYPICALLY COLLECTED THE LAST WEEK OF THE MONTH ALTHOUGH EXACT SAMPLE DATES ARE NOT RECORDED. PARAMETERS MONITORED FOR THIS PROGRAM INCLUDE WATER TEMPERATURE; MONTHLY RAIN; SALINITY; PH; D.O.; NITRATE; NITRITE; AND FECAL COLIFORM.
