THE SITE IS 1000 YARDS OFFSHORE NORTHEAST OF NICOLLS POINT IN THE GREAT SOUTH BAY OF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN. MEASUREMENTS OF LEAD CONCENTRATIONS IN WATER; PLANKTON; AND SEDIMENTS WERE TAKEN AT THIS STATION ON 25 JULY 1972. WATER DATA ARE REPORTED AS A COMPOSITE OF 3 SAMPLES (SURFACE; MIDDLE AND BOTTOM). DATA ARE SUMMARIZED IN A 1972 MASTER OF SCIENCE THESIS TITLED "AN INVESTIGATION OF THE LEAD IN THE WATER; PLANKTON; AND SEDIMENTS OF THE GREAT SOUTH BAY; LONG ISLAND; NEW YORK;" BY MICHAEL H. KOENIG (LONG ISLAND UNIVERSITY; CW POST CAMPUS). THE STATION WAS DIGITIZED USING MAPS PROVIDED IN THE REPORT.
