THE SITE IS AT THE LOWER HOSPITAL POINT WETLAND NEAR GREAT SOUTH BAY OF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN. WATER QUALITY AND SEDIMENT SAMPLES WERE COLLECTED IN REPLICATE AT THIS SITE IN 1983 AS PART OF AN STUDY OF THE WATER QUALITY OF FIIS. DATA ARE SUMMARIZED IN A FEBRUARY 1985 FINAL REPORT (CX16002006) TO THE NORTH ATLANTIC REGION OF THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE WATER RESOURCES PROGRAM TITLED; "WATER QUALITY AT FIRE ISLAND NATIONAL SEASHORE" BY DARVENE A. ADAMS; ALAN W. MCINTOSH; AND MARK D. SPRENGER (CENTER FOR COASTAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES AND DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES; RUTGERS UNIVERSITY; NEW BRUNSWICK; NEW JERSEY).
