MonitoringLocationDescriptionText THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE MORICHES NY 7.5 MINUTE SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE AND IS INSIDE OF FIRE ISLAND NATIONAL SEASHORE (FIIS) BOUNDARIES. THE SITE IS AT FLOYD'S POND MARSH ON THE WILLIAM FLOYD ESTATE NEAR GREAT SOUTH BAY OF THE ATLANTIC OCEAN. SEDIMENT SAMPLES WERE COLLECTED AT THIS SITE ON 4 NOVEMBER 1983 AS PART OF AN INTENSIVE STUDY OF POTENTIAL PESTICIDE CONTAMINATION IN THIS AREA. DATA ARE SUMMARIZED IN A FEBRUARY 1985 FINAL REPORT (CX16002006) TO THE NORTH ATLANTIC REGION OF THE NATIONAL PARK SERVICE WATER RESOURCES PROGRAM TITLED; "WATER QUALITY AT FIRE ISLAND NATIONAL SEASHORE" BY D. ADAMS; A. MCINTOSH; AND M. SPRENGER (CENTER FOR COASTAL AND ENVIRON MENTAL STUDIES AND DEPT. OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES; RUTGERS UNIVERSITY). FOR PARK INFO.
