| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE PAXTON SPRINGS NMCIBOLA CO. 7.5 MINUTE SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. THE SITE IS AT A PIPELINE APPROXIMATELY TWO AND A HALF MILES SOUTH OF PAXTON SPRING AND IS WITHIN EL MALPAIS NATIONAL MONUMENT. THE PIPE COLLECTS WATER FROM THE SPRING AND CARRIES IT (BY GRAVITY FLOW) TO THE SAMPLE POINT; WHERE IT IS THEN PUMPED INTO A STORAGE TANK FOR USE. AT THE TIME OF SAMPLE COLLECTION; SPRING FLOW THROUGH THE PIPE WAS AN ESTIMATED SEVEN GALLONS PER MINUTE; AND AN ADDITIONAL THREE GALLONS PER MINUTE FROM THE SPRING WAS NOT CAPTURED BY THE PIPELINE. DATA WERE FOUND IN NPSWRD FILES AS PART OF A TRIP REPORT BY WILLIAM WERRELL; NPS HYDROLOGIST. DATE OF SAMPLE WAS ESTIMATED BASED ON TRIP DATES OF OCTOBER 27 1989.
