MonitoringLocationDescriptionText THE STATION IS LOCATED ON THE MCINTOSH MOUNTAIN COGUNNISON COUNTY 7.5 MINUTE (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. SAMPLING WAS CONDUCTED AT SOUTH BEAVER CREEK NEAR THE GUNNISON RIVER. MOST OF THE DATA WERE COLLECTED AS PART OF A BASELINE WATER QUALITY INVENTORY FOR THE CURECANTI NATIONAL RECREATION AREA. THE BASELINE TESTING BEGAN IN 1982 AND CONTINUED UNTIL 1985 WITH SPORADIC TESTING AFTERWARDS. SOME OF THE DATA WERE COLLECTED PRIOR TO THE CREATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE CURECANTI NATIONAL RECREATION AREA AND THE ASSOCIATED RESERVOIRS. NEARBY AND SIMILAR SAMPLING SITES ARE USED BY THE STATE OF COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH; THE U.S. BUREAU OF RECLAMATION; THE EPA; AND THE USGS.
