| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | At 6200 feet in elevation Sun Creek plunges over falls, which are divided into several steps, and then flows down a steep talus slope at the base of the falls system. This segment is contained in a narrow Vshaped valley. There is a grass, herb, shrub, and fern understory near the stream channel. The channel is partially shaded by fir forests higher on the valley slopes. This is a high gradient segment, consisting of continuous bedrock falls and rubble boulder cascades. Aquatic mosses and encrusting algae are common. A kicknet and hand pick sample was taken at 6140 feet in cascades of the lower talus slope. The station description was based on station visits that occurred during September 1990. |
