| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | Anderson Spring issues from basaltic rubble at the base of an abruptly formed stream valley. The valley has a narrow floor with a sparsely vegetated steep pumice slope. Clusters of subalpine fir forest are found on the plateau rim above the spring. Herbaceous plants and grasses form a lush riparian area near the spring. The spring is the source of Sand Creek, although a perennial snow melt channel has formed above the spring. Water emerges from a diffuse spring head on the east bank over a distance of approximately 60 meters and collects in a 1 meter wide channel. Substrate is composed of angular cobble overlying porous gravel. Samples were collected in the spring head area. |
