MonitoringLocationDescriptionText Annie Spring is a large volume spring issuing from fractures in the bedrock at 6000 feet in elevation on the south side of Mount Mazama and is the source of water for the Mazama Campground. The spring source has been covered with masonry and a small 5 meter by 5 meter impoundment has formed below the source. The springstream channel below the impoundment is about 2 m wide and confined in a high gradient, shallow, Vshaped valley, having a moderately dense fir and lodgepole pine overstory. Stream banks are rock with a dense covering of moss and liverwort. Near the waterline grasses and herbaceous plants dominate. Instream habitat consists of short rifflerun sequences broken by log or rubble steps with small plunge pools and slack water in pockets on the stream margin. Samples were collected in the springstream channel immediately below the impoundment. The station description was based on station visits that occurred during September 1990.
