| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | The station is located on the mainstem of Annie Creek at an elevation of 5700 feet. The stream is confined in a narrow Vshaped valley with a moderate gradient. The valley slopes consist of unstable volcanic soils. Riparian areas contain fragmented thickets of fir and pine with an understory of grasses and herbaceous plants. Stream banks are composed of volcanic soil with low rock content and a thin covering of moss. Stream width ranges from 2 to 3 meters, and depths range from 5 to 15 centimeters. Riffles dominate the stream bed and which is armored by a cobble and gravel layer over sand and gravel. Near the station a 10 by 10 meter seepwetland has formed just below a foot bridge. The wetland marks the beginning of a network of perched wetlands found on the west bank of Annie Creek below an elevation of 5700 feet. The station description was based on station visits that occurred during September 1990. |
