| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | The site was accessed from the Ponderosa Picnic Area on the mainstem of Annie Creek at an elevation of 4390 feet. Ponderosa pine and Douglas fir provide a heavy forest cover on the plateau. Volcanic pumice soils on the plateau have been cut down to form a shallow valley. The floodplain varies in width from a few meters to greater than 10 meters. Patches of alder and a dense covering of grasses, herbaceous plants, and bracken border the stream channel. Stream banks are generally stable with occasional undercuts and slumps. The channel is 6 to 10 meters wide, has a moderate gradient, and is dominated by runs and riffles. The station description was based on station visits that occurred during September 1990. |
