| MonitoringLocationDescriptionText | This station represents a composite of pools found on Bear Creek between the park boundary and 3.5 km upstream of the park boundary. The stream channel was classified into habitat units of pools, glides, and riffles by the researchers. There were 88 pools located in the reach; however, researchers did not report results from individual pool, glide, or riffle sites. Instead they estimated and reported results per common habitat within stream segments. These data are being reported similarly to STORET with composite stations that represent common habitats within stream segments. The stream bed was composed of sand and gravel sized substrate. The channel was incised into a small Vshaped valley of loose pumice soil. Adjacent hillslopes were covered by lodgepole pine, which were largely dead and fallen from an infestation of bark beetles. The channel profile and morphology were controlled by pieces of the fallen trees. |
