THE SITE IS AT AN UNNAMED SPRING APPROXI MATELY 500 FEET EAST OF LITTLE DELAWARE CREEK AND 1.7 MILES SOUTHEAST OF PILGRIM CEMETERY. THE SPRING IS DESCRIBED AS A "CONTACT" SPRING. SAMPLES FOR THE SITE WERE COLLECTED MARCH 8 1977 DURING A STUDY CONDUCTED BY THE UNITED STATES GEOLOGICAL SURVEY (USGS) IN COOPERATION WITH THE OKLAHOMA GEOLOGICAL SURVEY (OGS). THE DATA WERE PUBLISHED IN THE 1990 REPORT "HYDROLOGY OF THE ARBUCKLE MOUNTAINS AREA; SOUTHCENTRAL OKLAHOMA" BY ROY W. FAIRCHILD; RONALD L. HANSON; AND ROBERT E. DAVIS. THE LATITUDE AND LONGITUDE COORDINATE VALUES FOR THE SITE WERE OBTAINED BY DIGITIZING A POINT THAT MATCHED THE SITE TYPE AND THE SITE'S TOWNSHIP; RANGE; AND QUARTERQUARTERQUARTER SECTION LOCATION (SECSTA1) AS ILLUSTRATED IN FIGURE 2 OF THE REPORT.
