MonitoringLocationDescriptionText THE SITE IS LOCATED ON THE SULPHUR NORTH OKLAHOMA 7.5 MINUTE SERIES (TOPOGRAPHIC) QUADRANGLE. THE SITE IS AT BLACK SULPHUR SPRING APPROXIMATELY A 1/4 MILE SOUTH OF SULPHUR AND EAST OF ROCK CREEK. SAMPLING FOR THIS SITE WAS DONE FROM FEBRUARY 1967 THROUGH MAY 1967. THE OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY WAS TO SEE IF THE WATER WAS OF ADEQUATE BACTERIOLOGICAL QUALITY TO MEET THE U.S. PUBLIC HEALTH SERVICE DRINKING WATER STANDARDS. THE STUDY WAS DONE BY THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL ADMINISTRATION. RESULTS ARE IN THE 1968 REPORT "A STUDY OF THE BACTERIOLOGICAL CONTAMINATION OF HILLSIDE SPRING AT PLATT NATIONAL PARK". FOR INFORMATION ON CHICKASAW NATIONAL RECREATION AREA CONTACT RESOURCE MANAGEMENT AT CHICKASAW NRA P.O. BOX 201 SULPHUR OK 73086. TEL (405) 6223165.
